Happy 17th Birthday, Dear AJ!!!!

Yes, it's true, my first born is now legal to go to rated "R" movies
and he bought his first "restricted" video game today.

Yes there he is...playing his XBOX 360...woo-hoo (I guess). Anyway, I have been asking him for the past 3 weeks what kind of cake he wants. I always got "I don't know" well last night he said "It doesn't matter it's just a cake"

.....fine...fine...fine....burst my bubble... so I got him this one today.....

Yep....I got him a Disney Princess cake...heh-heh.....

it says "Halo Cake" on it too...cause he likes the game "Halo"....

let's just say....I surprised him......

Grammie and PaPa bought Pizza Hut!!!!

and we had cake and sang Happy Birthday!!!

As I was cutting the cake, he said......

"Hey, I get to stick my tongue up 3 girls' dresses...and not get in trouble!!!" (yep he is my son) Niki just glared at him...hehehehehe........

It doesn't seem like 17 years ago that my little alien baby came into this world....

He has been through all of my good times and bad times with me.

My first guiding light. **deep sigh**

From a beautiful and so helpless baby to

the man who can't wait to conquer the world.

Tree Is Trimmed

I just hope it's still standing
when I get home tonight!!!!

An Afternoon With My Mother

Mom and I went Christmas shopping yesterday afternoon, it was "educational"...

First off, she drove. Never, Never let me say it again...NEVER going to happen again. It took all of my will-power not to speak up, cringe or grab the wheel. We almost hit at least 4 parked cars because she was driving too close to them. I won't even go into detail on how long she waited to apply the brakes at a stop light.........

Quick Note: My dad claims she is going "mad" and he is very serious and almost scary when he talks about it. I still think he is being a bit over dramatic.

Okay, we get in the store (Kmart) and she wants to look in the toy department for the boys. We get some stuff and then I see the Leap Pad stuff. Alec got one last year and is just starting to play with it. So I pick out "A Wocket in My Pocket" and show her. She agrees and she puts it in the basket.

We go up and down a few more isles and then she says "What about the leap pad books?"
"Mom, we just put it in the basket. Remember?"
"No we didn't." She starts going thru the basket.
"Yes mom we did, it's right here." I show her the book and she just looks at me and gets behind the basket and pushes on.

We went down the snow boot isle to get Ashton some snow boots and we see the adorable, pink sparklie, white fur lined snow boots. I picked them up and said "Aren't these precious?"

"They remind me of your pink snow suit when you were a baby." Mom said
"These are bigger than a baby size, but yeah they do look like they would match."
"I want a grand daughter, I want to buy girl things"
"What do you want me to do mom??? Go to a sperm bank and make a withdrawl?"
"Your father would die.....does your insurance cover that?"

I just looked at her. Why did I say that??? Great now I put an idea in her head!!!!

The rest of the time goes okay, then we get to the check out. I put the stuff she is buying on the counter and she is behind the basket and my stuff is still in the basket.

I said "Okay, all of your stuff is up there." She starts pushing the basket forward.
"Mom, my stuff is still in there. Just come up here and pay." She pushes the basket forward again. "Mom, leave the basket there and come up to the counter."

"I swear, you and your father treat me like I am retarded."

You would be so proud. I didn't say a word!!!

I think she fades in and out of her stable mental state. Anything not "usual" can throw her for a loop. But at work she does great and at home too. I just worry about her in public, there are so many people out there that could, and probably would, take advantage of her.

Then I had another "white knuckle" car experience on the way home.

Yes, another quiz.....

I don't think this one is very accurate......sounds more like Drama Mama.
But I do love carnations......so I posted it...

HASH(0x8c36560)
You are a Carnation:

You are friendly, energetic, cheerful, and bubbly.
You love being around people. Outgoing and
talkative, you rarely meet a stranger. Others
feel at ease around you because of your playful
nature.

Symbolism: In Victorian times carnations were given
to show fascination with another. They also
symbolize friendship and whimsicalness.

Quick note: My dad is a meat lover--- We had--Turkey, ham, beef ribs (not as good as the pork), pork ribs and shrimp. That was just the meat--then we had dressing, green beans, cranberry jellied stuff, smashed potatoes, rolls, 3 apple pies and 3 pumpkin pies, deviled eggs, 3 cans of black olives.....I think that's it.....anyway...here is the "MEAT FEAST"

AJ getting more shrimp--they went thru 6 lbs of it...

one platter of ribs---we had two platters on the table

Sydney scamming for scraps...

"PaPa" (my dad) carving the turkey.

"Signs"

Have you ever seen the movie "Signs"??

I love that movie and not because of the aliens. Most people only walked away from that movie with the thought of aliens invading the earth, here is what I walked away with:
Everything happens for a reason.

It might be a horrible thing, like his wife getting killed, but her last words of advice saved them in the end. Even though her death was horrible, it happened for a reason, so she could pass on valuable advice.

His daughter's obsession with glasses of water annoying until it was discovered that it dissolved the aliens.

His son's horrible asthma condition. Life threatening and horrible and years of struggling, saved his life in the end.

Mel has a unique way of expressing himself. The aliens were really just a "get them into the theater" ploy. I truly believe his message.

We may not like the things that happen to us in our lives. They hurt and tear our hearts out, but they had to happen for a reason. We don't know that reason and most likely will not until it happens.

We must keep our Faith and learn from all experiences, good and bad.

My SuperHero Personality--go figure--a spider

You scored as The Amazing Spider-Man. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker was transformed from a nerdy high school student into New York's greatest hero. Peter enjoys the thrill of being a super hero, but he struggles with the burdens of leading a double life. Thankful

Here is my Thankful list a day late--I needed to reflect and remember a bit...

I am thankful for/because:

  1. I have been truly blessed with three wonderful sons.
  2. I have loving caring parents.
  3. I met a wonderful guy and hopefully things will keep progressing.
  4. A great job that lets me have as much overtime as I need or want.
  5. I have a few really great friends.
  6. I have the ability to forgive and ask for forgiveness.
  7. My past has made me stronger, wiser and hopefully not too bitter.
  8. I live in a great country.
  9. Our Armed Forces and all that they do even though they don't agree or understand the cause for which they are fighting.

And my house. Even though I have been complaining about the mice. It is an old house but in a great location. Today I was reminded why I moved here. It was nice outside today and the boys could run in and out of both doors and I didn't have to worry about sex offenders, speeding cars, drug addicts or any thing else---THEY WERE SAFE!!!!

I checked on them regularly....but the neighborhood is so great. Nine houses on a dead in street that no one knows about.

God has truly blessed me...and I am thankful!!

beautiful (sorry about the size thing)
Your French name is
~Belle~
It means 'beautiful'.
You have a beautiful personality and are probably
just as beautiful on the outside as you are on
the inside. You are probably popular and have
lots of friends. People love to be around you,
for one reason or another. You love to be
surrounded by people and feel involved and
accepted. Although you sometimes wonder if you
are accepted for who you really are...

Blog Worth Mentioning

I left my camera at my mom's so I was surfing blog explosion trying to find a topic to help me vent.....when I came across........

thewideawakes.org

It seems today that more and more people are attacking all things Christian. On this day where we give thanks for all of our freedoms and rights, we must also remember the sacrifices that our forefathers made and that our military men and women are making still today. We must also remember that this country was founded so as to be a place of freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. I won’t bore ya’all more today, but remember as you eat and fellowship with your friends and family today to be thankful for everything you have. God Bless!

Turkey Eve!!!

Yep, it was a long day at work and I left at 3:00 pm..

Went to Safeway to get some milk for the weekend....just one comment....

DO PEOPLE NOT PLAN AHEAD FOR BIG MEALS????
I mean, I can see last minute "forgotten things" but these people were buying frozen turkeys!!!!! I just don't get it the dang store was packed!!! It took me 15 minutes just to get down an aisle to get to the milk. aaaggghhhh.....I thought about stopping in the liquor department and picking up a bottle of something just to deal with the people. But, it was packed too.....
Took 45 minutes to go into the store, get 2 gallons of white milk and one gallon of chocolate milk and check out!!!! CHEESE AND RICE!!
Then my mom called, sounded strange so I went and checked on them. I worry about them. I know they are getting old and stuff...but they are acting weird. I am thinking something is going on they are not telling me. But, I will just have to wait it out I guess.
Left there and went to get the boys at daycare, that wasn't too bad. Actually it was great...there were about 30 kids that came up and gave me hugs. Sometimes I wonder if their parents talk to them, cause they talk non-stop to me. Have cool holiday art the boys did, can't wait to hang it up.
We wished everybody a Happy Thanks Giving and headed home. Got inside and AJ had totally thrashed the house before he went to work. So he is getting extra house duties this weekend.
Found another dead mouse.....but I've got so much to clean up that I will post it with the next pictures of dead creatures.
I agree with Graham (comment from previous mouse post), and I don't like seeing dead mice...but I also don't like sharing my house with them. I live in an area that is famous for Lyme Disease and Hanta Virus. I am not taking any chances...besides they are just nasty.....creepy...and squeaky......eeewwwwww....(shivered)
I rented "ELF" and bought "Polar Express"--Now if I can just get Alec to share the TV with me.
and for Thursday-----
GO BRONCOS!!!!!

ME-ME IN PICTURES

I stole this from Phil but I think that's okay cause he stole it from someone else...

As I am sitting at work, getting paid and have played spider solitare till my eyes have crossed...

Here we go---

I am to to a Google image search for the following and post the first (or favorite if I want to cheat--but I have to confess) result for each. Knowing me---I am sure I will cheat!!!! So I am confessing ahead of time....

  1. The name of the town where you wer born
  2. The name of the town where you live now
  3. Your name
  4. Your Grandmother's Name (pick one)
  5. Your favorite food
  6. Your favorite drink
  7. Your favorite song
  8. Your favorite smell
#1 and #2 are the same for me ...so I will pick different pictures.....

1. There is a lot of rock crawling around here........I think it was about the 4th one or so

2. The guys in uniform in this town---Some are way cool--it was on the first page..can't remember which one

3. Queen Elizabeth I---She was on the 2nd page and the only one that caught my eye.

4. Okay, this is my maternal grandmother (Beatrice) I had to go to the second page, because evidently the name Beatrice is associated with women bearing their breasts and bras. I tried Mary Franks (paternal grandmother) and found a cool tombstone that had Mary and John Franks on it which are the names of my grand parents but it wasn't them. I thought it was cool, but blogger wouldn't let me load it...so we have the picture above.

5. It was either this or steak... and I didn't want to look at any more porn (shocking I know) so I chose the Ice Cream vs. Steak.....surprised I didn't get porn with it.

heeh-heh.......the porn comment above made me think of this one.....

Guess what drink it is....come on I dare you.....

If I drink, not very often, it would be these...and they are so much fun to order!!!!

7. This was like the 4th one or so...."Forever Tonight" by Peter Cetera and Crystal Bernhard. I have to be careful listening to this though....I get all emotional...

8. Okay, this isn't my favorite smell, but I couldn't decide so I typed in the obvious choice and this picture was so funny, I couldn't resist......

not on the list....but most definately a FAVORITE!!!!!

I've had these pictures for a while, meth man sent them to the boys but I haven't shown them the pictures yet.

The 1st one is in September--our first visit--Alec wouldn't get in the picture with him....

This one is in October--If you look really close you can see the scab on his lip but he hid the black eye with his hair....

Why the heck am I putting these on my blog????? Well, I wanted to show someone and I can't bring myself to show the boys. They know they took the pictures, but I just don't want them looking at them right now.

I'm being selfish!! I know...

The Angel Tree

I got a call today from a very nice lady with the holiday charity "The Angel Tree". She said that the boys' (all 3) names and information had been given to her by their dad who was in the Los Lunas Facility.

a bit of history first.....

Our last visit with meth-man (October, 2005) he mentioned that he put the boys names in for The Angel Tree because that was the only way that "he" could give them gifts. I told him that it was not necessary that the boys will and always had more than they should at Christmas and that there are many less fortunate children that could use some Christmas cheer!!! He said I was being stubborn and selfish and I wasn't allowing him to be a part of the boys lives. Hello!!!! you are locked up you tweaker. (And he put AJ's name in too. AJ is not his son and cannot stand even the mention of his name.)

I pretty plainly tell him that I do not want to participate in the program. He keeps arguing that it is his only way of being in the boys lives. Great, the only way he can be in their lives is to have a total stranger buy them a present???? After about 20 minutes of discussing this and me not budging...

he finally says "Look, I get extra points in here if I put my kids' names on this list, OK!!"

Finally, the truth is known. As usual, he is not thinking of them he is thinking of himself and trying to make it look good. I told him he can do what he wants, but I will not participate and they will not get near my children. He corrected me and said "our" children. I just looked at him and said "whatever, they both know who the true parent is." I mean this visit was strained enough with his condition and "shamrock guard" watching over us. Needless to say we haven't been back.

Okay, back to the phone call. The lady was very nice. She said that she would like 4 or 5 things that each child would like for Christmas. I explained to her that I really wasn't comfortable participating in this program. She kept talking saying it was a way for prisoners to make sure that their children were provided for while they were incarcerated. (now, she is getting to me and I start getting pissy). I told her that their father never provided for them or cared for them when he was free, why should it change now?? She told me that I needed to put my bitterness aside and think of the children. HA!!! What the hell does she think I have been doing for the last 3.5 years. What am I doing when I take them to visit their dad???? Negative thoughts aside, I take a deep breath. I tell her that we are not strained for money or presents, but if she insists on doing this that she could put down blankets, sweat pants and winter coats for any youth size.

She said "What?".

I said, "if you insist on me participating, I will take things for the battered woman's shelter. They are in need of these things for those who are truly needy this holiday season and I will donate them in the boys' father's name. "

"Well ma'am we cannot do that. "

"Why can't you??? I gave you the lists and that is what you asked."

"Because the presents are not for an inmates children"

"How do you know that these homeless children don't have inmate fathers?"

She just hung up on me.......

I don't understand. I told her I didn't want to participate and she insisted. When I told her the "basic" things and that they would go to the battered woman's shelter she can't do that.

Needless to say, I am still going to Wal-mart this weekend and get some blankets and some sweat pants for kids, probably the plain grey ones. I already have some make-up samples that I conned out of some associates at Dillards. (That wasn't an easy task.) So I can take a pretty decent load to the shelter.

I pick this particular "charity" because without my parents being who they are and always being there for me, the boys and I would of been in that shelter. I am thankful that there are such organizations and I am in full support of them.

Merry Christmas--God Bless Us, Everyone!!

What is your best quality???

I was asked that once in a job interview. I thought for a moment and I said "my drive". If something needs to be done, I wont' stop until it is complete. I love projects, deadlines, stress and I especially love producing great work in the time frame assigned. At work I don't get emotional and wig, I just get a siren on my head and push right on through. I wish I could be like this in all of my life. The interviewer laughed and said "Great, another Ice Queen". He was referring to who was going to be my immediate boss, she was the same way. We worked well together.

Then he asked me what my worst quality was. What a question.....This guy was good. I thought for moment and said..."My drive". The same thing that makes me a good worker can also make me a bad one. I am fully capable of multi-tasking, but if something urgent comes up I will make other things wait until it is done. I will go to all extremes to make sure it is done. At times I get pushy or forceful to make it happen. He just smiled at me and said good answer.

It was true, I can be forceful and pushy and I know it. At the time I don't realize it, but the after thought usually upsets me.

What is your best quality---and your worst??

And the Rush Begins!!!!

Yep, it's the holiday season---the rush has started.

Alec's daycare is having a "feast" tomorrow. I was signed up to bring carrot and celery sticks, but no one would sign up to bring turkey. So I signed up for both spots and I cooked two turkey breasts today. Just the breasts...never done that before. They aren't bad, I of course had to sample them as I was slicing them up. But I think it is moister (I hate the word moist) with the whole turkey. Then, we are having a "feast" at work. I am taking guacamole. Dipping turkey in it is surprisingly good.

So I had to go to Safeway and get the fixin's. 8 avocados at 2 for $3, sour cream, garlic, salsa, green chili, two turkey breasts, and a gallon of white and a gallon of chocolate milk $75.00....wow....expensive. The most costly thing was the turkey breasts then the avocados.

Go home after the store and put the turkeys in to bake and then head back to work. AJ turned off the oven when he got home from school so it worked out pretty well. Now I just have to get it all to the right place tomorrow.

I think I will go dip some more turkey....yummmmm

Trippin' Tuesday!!!

Yes, I ran across two quizzes yesterday and I liked both of them so it was a double whammy!!!

Yesterday was just too weird. I woke up with my neck hurting and if I moved or used my right arm it hurt. Have you ever tried to brush your teeth with the "off" hand??? IT SUCKS!!!! I think I might have a self inflicted canker sore...

Got to work and realized that Alec had stole my bag of Cheerios....the lil' boogger....

I'm having issues driving cause it hurts to turn my head in certain directions. But I make it and I don't run into anyone....

At work, I'm in a so-so mood--not my usually bouncy annoying self. Everyone that comes in and tells me I look like crap!! Boy they know how to make a girl feel good don't they.

Yes, I was whinny....sorry...it was unavoidable. I still don't know why.

There was definitely something in the works...It just never totally surfaced.

I did do some blog surfing...and I won 100 credits!!!! I didn't even know you could win that many credits. I have only seen the 2, 3 and 5 ones.

When I got home, I scammed AJ into helping me a little bit since my neck still hurt and then the boys got TV dinners "Kids cuisine" and got to eat in front of the TV. I attempted to invoice and got some done. Got to talk to an incredible man on the phone and he made my world all smiles again. THANKS PJ. (deep sigh)

But, then I woke up this morning and realized how much daily cleaning I do. The house is a wreck. It looks like blanket monsters attacked my front room. Blankets everywhere, action figures everywhere....geesh....

I am still working on getting the red kool-aid stains out of the carpet in the front room from Ashton's stomach adventures. So if anyone has any helpful hints....PLEASE SHARE!!!
